One type of food that is popular in Singapore is Hainan Chicken Rice. This type of food can be found in almost every food court in the whole of Singapore. White rice or rice cooked with chicken broth served hot in a bowl. Then, the side dish, chops of grilled chicken or duck with some cucumber slices placed on the bottom slices of chicken or duck meat which is then flushed with a sort of salty-flavored sauce. In addition, there is also presented a bowl of chicken broth or duck sauce as a complement.

Not forgetting, a small dish of chili sauce and the sauce of ginger and crushed garlic are also presented to complement this one dish meal. A set menu of Hainan Chicken Rice is usually sold at between 3.00 to 5.00 SGD. Pretty cheap, right?

Well, there is also one kind of other foods made from rice. This serving is not the same as Hainanese Chicken Rice as in the making, it does not use chicken broth soup, but use coconut milk. This food is known as Lemak Rice. Besides can be found in Singapore, this food can also be found in Malaysia. Usually, Lemak Rice is served with slices of boiled eggs or scrambled eggs, fried fish or fried chicken pieces plus pickled cucumbers and fried peanuts. There is also chili sauce presented as a complementary sauce.

If you are a lover of food made from meat, then you definitely should not miss delicious Singapore Satay. Usually pieces of dice-sized meat grilled over charcoal burning the sauce served with mashed beans. Again, as a complementary sauce can be blended into the peanut sauce before mixing with black sweet soy sauce mixture. There are several versions of Satay Singapore, the Chinese version of the Oriental typically use natural pork (non – kosher), while the version of the Malays usually use natural beef or chicken. Singapore satay sticks are usually sold at a price of SGD 0.40-0.60.

For those of you who like foods such as soup, try to taste shui jiao tang made from minced meat and shrimp wrapped in thin sheets of wheat flour. Shui Jiao Tang was presented in a soup bowl along with broth made from meat. Usually this type of food is suitable during the rainy season to warm the body.
